Why We Love the Bosch Universal Plus

  • Built to last for decades — strong motor, smart design, and easy cleanup.
  • Handles big batches — up to 14 pounds of dough!
  • Works beautifully for both everyday cooking and serious home baking.
  • Optional attachments let you turn it into a full kitchen workstation (slicer, blender, food processor, etc.).

I’ve used Bosch mixers for years — and they’re a real workhorse for homesteaders, bakers, and busy families alike. I love my Universal Plus because it handles double batches of whole wheat bread with no problems. When I was a young mother and tried using bread machines, I burnt out three of them before I invested in a Bosch. It’s been with us ever since.

  1. I would love a heavy duty mixer for sour dough making and lots and lots of batches of cookies. Maybe I would even try mixing home made sausage recipes with it!

  2. Hello, I started making bread a couple years ago to get away from the chemicals in store bought bread after having a loaf of store bread have no mold on it after 3 months! I have Laurie’s bread book and I bought one for my sister. I have arthritis in my hands as a senior and sometimes kneading gets a bit difficult but I love making bread so I just deal with that. This mixer sure would be helpful.
    Thanks.

  3. If I won this cast iron machine ( Bosch is the cats meow) I would probably give it to my daughter. She has 6 children under nine and makes all their bread from scratch. This is a great product and a great give away. May some deserving person win it who ever it maybe. God bless.

  4. I truly enjoy making breads and baking goodies for family and friends. I would enjoy having a workhorse of a mixer for those tasks. I have had friends that owned them and they say they are truly a ‘must have’ kitchen appliance when you do a lot of baking. As we get older, we still think we can do the same quantity of baking as we did in our younger years, but we soon discover that we need a bit more help from our “‘electric friends” !

  5. This would be great in the kitchen. I would use it to make all kinda of cookie dough, bread and cinnamon buns!

  6. I don’t have a stand mixer anymore and I miss it. It’s hard to buy a new one because they’re either really expensive or cheap knock offs that won’t last.

  7. Making homemade bread. I don’t have a stand up mixer but it would be great to have one that does multiple things.

  8. i do so much baking and cooking during the holiday season this would be a huge blessing and help.. i’ve worn out so many mixers and even broke the beaters on one…no idea how that happened, was mixing a cheesecake but its would be VERY helpful for the dozens of yeast rolls and the pumpkin rolls, and cheesecakes and other things i make throughout the holidays both for my family dinners but also for the ones i do to sell….

  9. I haven’t bought a loaf of bread in 37 years…though lately in my 70’s, kneading by hand is…a bit…weary-ing. I’ve never wanted to buy a bread maker, because in kneading, that’s when i put my love into each loaf.
    But…this sounded like fun to enter…i’ve never had a mixer….maybe it’s time…?!!

  10. My elderly (like me) Kitchen Aid stand mixer requires help to move her to the counter so I can use her to make bread and rolls. In fact, her name is Big Bertha, LOL! I would love a Bosch but BB just keeps plugging along.
    Now…if I won one, that would be my excuse for donating BB, just don’t let her see this comment, she’s been so faithful 🙂
    Thanks for offering this wonderful gift…the winner will be thrilled!!

  11. Hi Laurie,

    Your message above for the mixer contest says you’re going “old school.” What does that mean exactly? I thought I was entered but I remembered I didn’t write what I would use the mixer for. How do I re-enter properly?

    Thank you,

  12. Hello, Looking at baking with a reliable mixer. Bread making has become daunting for me since arthritis in my hands. Still love “homemade” bread! What a happy day it would be to find out that I won.
    Thank you ever so much!

  13. Hi,
    I make monstrous batches of gluten free Monster cookies every month (along with various other baked goods) This Universal Mixer would easily mix the 9cups of oatmeal, 2.5 cups peanut butter, 6 eggs etc easily and it wouldn’t be shooting out of the bowl! Thanks for having the contest!

  14. How I would love a Bosch mixer:
    1) save $ and trips to store;
    2) control the ingredients in my bread;
    3) save the pain on arthritic joints for something else;
    4) bulk freeze pizza dough;
    5) feed my family, church, and community;
    6) downsize # of appliances, thus gaining more countertop space;
    7) probably something else that will pop into my brain later. 😉

  15. We will use the mixer to start making bread again. Our old bread maker failed and we are looking forward to getting a new one. Thanks.
