August Neverman IV
Meet August Neverman
I’m August Neverman—practical prepper, amateur architect, and lifelong learner. Growing up along the east shore of the Bay of Green Bay instilled in me a love for nature and a passion for self-reliance. Together with my wife Laurie and our sons, we’ve turned an abandoned pasture into a flourishing, sustainable homestead that seamlessly combines modern technology with time-honored traditions.
We’ve planted over 200 trees and shrubs, established perennial gardens, and embraced permaculture to support biodiversity and ensure food security for both our family and wildlife. Our home, equipped with a root cellar, solar-powered systems, and handicap-accessible features, reflects our commitment to blending the best of the old and the new, to build a sustainable, adaptable future. And we don’t just talk about it—we live it.
Professional Experience
Professionally, my background in IT, consulting, and government service has sharpened my ability to problem-solve and innovate. As President of Neverman Consulting, I specialize in IT, AI, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery.
Throughout my career, I’ve developed a knack for identifying the root cause of problems and creating practical, efficient solutions. Whether it’s harnessing AI to optimize business operations or developing emergency response systems or planning for disasters I’m passionate about crafting strategies that deliver real-world results.
At Common Sense Home, I bring this same results-driven approach to everything we share. From energy-efficient home design to prepping tips or advice on planting an apple tree, my goal is to empower you. I want to help you understand your options and make informed decisions tailored to your unique needs.
Servant Leadership
Our family’s commitment to rigorous research and hands-on testing ensures that the advice we provide is grounded in experience—including the times when things didn’t go as planned (we share those lessons too).
By integrating modern innovations with the wisdom of generations past, we tackle challenges like designing solar systems, protecting fruit trees and shrubs from deer and mice (hint: fencing is a must!), and preparing for unexpected situations.
Whether you’re interested in creating a resilient home, incorporating sustainable practices into your life, or being a bit more better prepared while living in the city, we’re here to help.
Let’s explore together. At Common Sense Home, we believe a mix of planning, effort, and a dash of creativity can go a long way. Join us in building a future that’s both resilient and abundant.
Welcome to a place where modern living meets common sense. Let’s make something extraordinary!
