Why We Love the Bosch Universal Plus

  • Built to last for decades — strong motor, smart design, and easy cleanup.
  • Handles big batches — up to 14 pounds of dough!
  • Works beautifully for both everyday cooking and serious home baking.
  • Optional attachments let you turn it into a full kitchen workstation (slicer, blender, food processor, etc.).

I’ve used Bosch mixers for years — and they’re a real workhorse for homesteaders, bakers, and busy families alike. I love my Universal Plus because it handles double batches of whole wheat bread with no problems. When I was a young mother and tried using bread machines, I burnt out three of them before I invested in a Bosch. It’s been with us ever since.

  1. Currently I have a Kitchen Aid mixer – this is my second one. My first one over heated while making bread dough, so I bought a bigger and more industrial model. I have had this one for the last 20 years. Recently my son-in-law and I purchased a mill to grind our own flour. Of course, I searched out the best recipe for freshly milled flour only to discover that my Kitchen Aid had difficulty with the kneading process. With recipes that I found, I saw that the Bosch mixer was used and raved about. These are fascinating mixers and I believe it is time for better mixer! My grandkiddos are learning and testing out their own recipes. I believe this mixer would be a great hand-me-down for them and keep them interested in doing their own bread making for years to come.

  2. Would love to have the Bosch for family and holiday baking!! Large enough to make for friends too.

  3. Winning the Bosch Universal Plus Stand Mixer would be immensely helpful for us as I already bake all of our breads, cakes, pies, and cookies, due to food allergies. Currently, I set aside several days each month to bake different things we like, then stash extras in the freezer for later. My current mixer is too small to scale up most recipes successfully, so I have to run multiple batches of the same recipe, over and over, just to be able to save some for the freezer. That means that I can usually only make one or two different recipes in a given day because I run out of time for other things that have to happen. Even with these extended baking sessions, we still don’t have enough bread to last longer than a week or so. With two teen boys and two adults eating, we really could use a more efficient mixer! My youngest enjoys helping me with the flour milling (we grind our own buckwheat flour — yum), so he would especially love to see more bread stashed for later. 🙂

  4. I have had thyroid and gut issues for 16 years. Along with that comes inflammation. It gets hard to hand knead my bread. I’d love this machine to help me keep making bread I can eat. Plus all the other things I can continue to make and bake!!

  5. I would use the mixer to make bread from whole grains I mill myself. The stand mixer I have gets a little too hot struggling to knead the dough.

  6. Baking breads! Baking cookies! Baking baking baking!!
I imagine having a Bosch Universal Plus Stand Mixer would make baking so much more enjoyable! Thank you for this opportunity to win such a fabulous prize!

  7. I would use the mixer for breads, crescent rolls, cookies and bars, using my family favorite recipes and any new recipes I find that look interesting. A new mixer is an opportunity to try new baked goods!

  8. Okay…okay…..okay. I’ve been trying to live without a stand mixer. I made challah this week and my arms took a beating. The recipe did say to not try to hand knead. The bread was great and I want to make it again… just not by hand. I’ve had similar but not so dramatic experiences with other recipes. I bake daily (cooking too) and imagine I’d find plenty of uses.

I see some comments about the size of the Bosch and that appeals to me too. I try to not clutter my limited counter and storage space. Of course, I am willing to make room for something useful and regularly used.

  9. Thanks for the chance to win! I was recently gifted some sourdough starter and have been experimenting – I would definitely use it to expand those experiments!

  10. I would use it to make “small” batches of bread for my large family. It would save me the trouble of cleaning the industrial 20 quart mixer when all I’m making is breakfast or dessert and not bread.

  11. I do a lot of cooking and occasional baking. I’m happy with my kitchen skills, but I often see the need for large scale mixing, blending, chopping, etc. I also cook in a soup kitchen, so I’ll have many opportunities to use the Bosch UniversalPlus.
    Thanks.

  12. Hello Laurie,
I look forward to the tips and recipes you offer and appreciate the reminder to try things at a slower pace.
I’d like to be entered in the stand mixer drawing.
Wishing you all a happy Thanksgiving!
    Thank you,
    Teri

  13. I am new to the herbal community and want to learn to make my own breads and this little Bosch Universal Plus mixer looks great. It’s not too big as we are just an older house of two people so we don’t need a big mixer. Thank you Laurie for your newsletters and articles with recipes, they very helpful to us newbies.

  14. I love my Bosch mixer! It is getting old but keeps working. My daughter has the newer model . It is staple appliance in our home. It is always mixing something.

  15. If I had a Bosch mixer I would definitely be able to make more than one loaf of bread at a time! The mixer I have right now struggled when I tried to make two loaves and so I decided I didn’t want to buy a new mixer so I just went back to making one loaf at a time. I will definitely use it for other baking too!
    Happy baking
    Michelle S
