A frozen apple cider slush is a refreshing way to enjoy cider on those surprisingly warm fall afternoons. It’s also a fun way to use cider you’ve tucked into the freezer after pressing apples.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups frozen apple cider cubes
  • 1/2 cup chilled apple cider
  • 1-2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • Pinch of cinnamon, optional
  • Apple slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pour fresh cider into ice cube trays and freeze until solid, preferably overnight.
  2. Place the frozen cider cubes in a sturdy blender.
  3. Add the chilled cider and lemon juice.
  4. Blend until thick and slushy, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed.
  5. Add a little more cider if the mixture is too thick to blend.
  6. Divide between two glasses and serve immediately.

Notes

Flavor variation: Replace some of the chilled cider with cranberry juice for a tart cranberry-apple slush. One standard ice cube tray holds roughly one cup of liquid.

Make ahead: Keep frozen cider cubes in a labeled freezer bag so you can make a slush whenever the mood strikes.
